Over the years my daycare toddlers and preschoolers have made many lovely spring crafts — flowers, birds, butterflies and more. I’ve gathered our most popular, easy-to-follow projects here so you can find inspiration and activities quickly when the days get warmer and nature begins to wake up.
Each craft supports fine motor development, creativity, and sensory exploration. They’re budget-friendly, easy to set up, and great for introducing seasonal vocabulary and observations about the outdoors.
Be sure to bookmark or pin this collection so it’s ready when spring arrives and you want quick, hands-on activities to celebrate the season.

Spring is a refreshing season full of colour, new growth and outdoor play. The warmer weather brings longer days, more time in the yard, and chances to spot birds, butterflies, and flowers. Crafting during this season helps children connect with nature and practise important skills like cutting, gluing and arranging shapes.
10 Easy Spring Crafts for Kids:
Cork-Stamped Button Flowers – A favourite for little crafters. This project uses recycled corks for stamping flower shapes and colourful buttons for the centers. It’s an excellent way to practise hand-eye coordination while exploring patterns and colour.
Coffee Filter Spring or Easter Wreath – Kids enjoy dyeing and fluffing coffee filters to create soft, colorful wreaths. This project is forgiving for young children and makes a cheerful seasonal decoration for doors or classroom walls.
Rainsticks – Gather recycled cardboard tubes, beans or rice, and decorative materials to create rain sounds. Making a rainstick is a sensory-rich activity that invites discussion about spring showers and the sounds of the season.

Paper Plate Garden – Transform a paper plate into a miniature garden scene using craft flowers, buttons and other loose parts. This activity encourages imaginative play and basic spatial skills as children arrange plants and pathways.
Woodland Fairy Tiara – Using a paper bag or grocery sack, artificial flowers and simple embellishments, children can make a whimsical tiara. This craft is great for role play and storytelling, and it’s easy for toddlers and preschoolers to personalise.
Tissue Paper Rainbows – A colourful project that uses tissue paper and a simple drawing technique to create bright rainbows. This craft combines colour exploration with fine motor work as children tear, glue, and arrange tissue pieces.
Tissue Paper Spring Wreath – Toddlers especially like crumpling tissue paper for this easy wreath. The repetitive motion builds hand strength and the finished wreath adds a fresh, handmade touch to spring décor.
Paper Plate Birds – One of my favourite spring projects. Create “rocking birds” from paper plates and simple craft supplies. This project supports cutting, gluing and decorating skills while celebrating the return of songbirds.

Rainbow Wind Chimes – After a nature walk to gather sticks and natural materials, paint and assemble them into colourful wind chimes. This craft makes a lovely Mother’s Day or Father’s Day gift and encourages appreciation for found materials.
Styrofoam Spring Art – A very simple art activity using styrofoam meat trays and foam shapes. Toddlers can press, arrange and glue shapes to create bright, textured spring scenes without complicated steps.
Paper Towel Butterflies – Three fun ways to turn coloured-paper-towel experiments into butterflies. Children colour paper towels with water and dye, explore diffusion, then fold and decorate the results to make delicate wings.
