Mini desserts are always a little special. They may take a bit more patience than one large cake, especially when filling and decorating each mold, but the result is worth the extra care. These small orange bundt cakes look adorable on a dessert table and are easy to serve without slicing. They are a wonderful choice for family gatherings, festive dinners, birthdays, or any occasion when you want a dessert that looks lovely without being too complicated.

The recipe is simple and easy to follow. The batter is made with butter, sugar, eggs, milk, orange zest, flour, and baking powder, then finished with chocolate flakes or chips. The cakes are baked in mini bundt molds, and silicone molds work especially well because they make removing the cakes easier. If you use silicone molds, keep an eye on the baking time, as they may bake a little faster depending on your oven.

These Mini Orange Bundt Cakes are delicious enough for a celebration but simple enough for a relaxed weekend dessert. Serve them with coffee, tea, or as a sweet treat after dinner. The chocolate glaze gives the cakes a beautiful finish, and a dusting of icing sugar or sprinkles can make them look even more festive.

Mini Orange Bundt Cakes Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs, at room temperature
  • 7 oz = 200 gr unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 5 oz = 140 gr sugar
  • 7 oz = 200 gr self-rising flour
  • Zest from 2 large oranges, plus a little orange juice if needed
  • 1 cup milk
  • Chocolate flakes or chocolate chips, as preferred
  • 1/3 oz = 10 gr baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 oz vanilla sugar
  • Icing sugar, for decorating
  • Cooking spray
  • Silicone mini bundt cake mold

For the chocolate glaze:

  • 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons milk or water
  • 1 tablespoon Nutella

Directions:

  • Cream the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture becomes light and smooth.
  • Add the vanilla sugar, then beat in the eggs one at a time. Mix well after each egg so the batter stays smooth.
  • Add the salt and orange zest, then mix again until the orange zest is evenly distributed through the batter.
  • Pour in the milk and continue mixing until combined.
  • Add the flour and baking powder, then mix until fully incorporated and no lumps remain. The batter should be smooth, not too thick and not too runny. If it feels too thick, add a small amount of fresh orange juice until you are happy with the texture.
  • Add the chocolate flakes or chocolate chips and gently stir them into the batter with the handle or back of a tablespoon.

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F = 180 C.
  • Coat the mini bundt cake molds with cooking spray to help the cakes release easily after baking.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared bundt cake molds, filling them carefully. Place the molds on a large baking sheet so they are easy to move in and out of the oven.

  • Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake in the middle of the oven for about 30 minutes, or until the mini orange bundt cakes are golden. Test with a toothpick; if no wet batter sticks to it, the cakes are done. Do not open the oven during the first 10 minutes of baking.
  • Remove the cakes from the oven and immediately transfer them to a work surface, placing them bottoms up. Let them cool completely before adding the glaze.

  • To make the chocolate glaze, whisk the icing sugar with the cocoa powder and milk or water until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  • Add the Nutella and mix well. If the glaze seems too thick, add a little more milk or water until it reaches a pourable consistency.
  • Pour the chocolate glaze over the cooled mini bundt cakes. Decorate with icing sugar and, if desired, add sprinkles for a more festive look.

For the best texture, allow the cakes to cool before glazing them. If the cakes are still warm, the glaze may become too thin and run off quickly. Once cooled and decorated, these Mini Orange Bundt Cakes are ready to serve and enjoy.
