Join me as I sail along the California coast with Princess Cruises. The next stop on this California Coastal Cruise is Santa Barbara, a sunny and beautiful port that quickly became one of the most memorable parts of the trip. During our visit, I attended a wine-filled private event at Fess Parker Winery, and it was the kind of relaxed, gorgeous experience that makes you want to slow down, sip something crisp, and take in every view.

California Coastal Cruise – Santa Barbara
One of the stops on our California Coastal Cruise with Princess Cruises was Santa Barbara, and from the moment we arrived that morning, it felt like we were in for something special. The weather could not have been more perfect. It was warm, clear, and comfortably in the 70s, with bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Santa Barbara has such an easy coastal charm, and arriving by cruise ship made the day feel even more exciting.
We spent the day with Iron Chef Cat Cora, who happens to live in Santa Barbara. Because it is her hometown, she was genuinely excited to share the area with us. That personal connection made the stop feel less like a standard cruise excursion and more like being welcomed into a place by someone who truly loves it. Her enthusiasm set the tone for the day, and it was clear that Santa Barbara was going to offer more than just pretty views.

From there, we were taken to the stunning Fess Parker Winery. I was immediately impressed by the setting, the hospitality, and the welcoming energy of everyone there. It is hard not to be happy when you are surrounded by beautiful scenery, good wine, and people who are proud to share what they do. The atmosphere was warm and polished without feeling too formal, which made the whole experience feel special but still completely relaxed.

A private event had been arranged for our group, and it included food, wine, and the chance to learn a little more about the winemaking process. It was the perfect way to spend a Santa Barbara cruise stop: a little education, a lot of tasting, and plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. The event felt thoughtful and well organized, but never rushed. We were able to wander, talk, taste, and simply enjoy being there.

The outdoor space at the winery was one of my favorite parts of the visit. It had a simple, modern style while still feeling rustic and connected to the landscape. Nothing felt overdone. The clean design, open air, and wine country setting created a calm and inviting place to sit back and enjoy the day. For anyone planning a California Coastal Cruise, Santa Barbara is exactly the kind of port that makes the itinerary feel both relaxing and memorable.

I also tasted what may be the best Chardonnay I have ever had. I am not usually a big Chardonnay fan, but this one was different. It was aged in steel barrels instead of oak, so it did not have that strong oak flavor that I often find too heavy. Instead, it was light, crisp, and incredibly easy to drink. My friend Christie and I liked it so much that we may have ordered an entire case. Seriously.

The winemakers were gracious, friendly, and eager to share their experience with us. They spoke about the wine with real enthusiasm, and they even shared grapes with the group. Those small moments made the visit feel personal. It was not just about tasting wine; it was about hearing from the people behind it and seeing how much care goes into what they create.

Our Santa Barbara stop on the Princess Cruises California Coastal Cruise turned out to be such a lovely day. Between the perfect weather, the beautiful winery, the private event, and the chance to experience the area with Cat Cora, it was one of those travel days that stays with you. I left feeling relaxed, happy, and already hoping I would have the chance to return soon.
